It’s nothing new to see famous people who struggle with substance abuse. In fact, we have known many of them who really had a hard time and were not even able to get out of it. But the good news is that there are a lot of them also who took the courage to get out of their drug addiction and start a new life. Now, these people share their stories with the hopes of inspiring others to realize that help is available and they can always get out of it.

Just like with Jack Black, who speaks openly his own share of history with substance abuse. According to him, “I have experience in the world of addiction,” Black said. “Alcoholism is in my family, so I know personally what that is about and I myself also struggled.” He added, “In my wild, younger years I’ve definitely gone down some risky roads and I’m very fortunate to still be alive, to be honest with you. I partied pretty hard, and man, I definitely had a very robust, ridiculous, idiotic period in the ’80s.”

In an interview with the Herald Sun, the 49-year-old “School of Rock” star spoke about how he personally related to his new film, “Don’t Worry, He Won’t Get Far On Foot”, in which he plays an alcoholic.

Black has spoken about his teenage drug addiction before, telling Parade magazine in 2016, “I was having a lot of troubles with cocaine… I was hanging out with some pretty rough characters. I was scared to go to school (because) one of them wanted to kill me. I wanted to get out of there.”

The actor is now sober and has been married since 2006 to artist Tanya Hayden, with whom he has two sons.
